This brief video gives us a glimpse at the making of “Rollie Pollies” for the new movie Pacific Rim in the workshop of Spectral Motion. I haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet and I’m trying to avoid spoilers, so I’m not entirely what these are, but I think it’s a safe bet that they’ve got something to do with the giant monsters that terrorize the planet throughout the film.
Kudos to director Guillermo del Toro, who loves puppets and practical FX and integrates them in to all of his movies. Also to the wizards at Spectral Motion (one of Guillermo’s go-to FX Shops) on bringing these impressive-looking critters to life!
