A trailer for The Mill at Calder’s End, the latest “Victorian Ghost Story Puppet Short Film” from director Kevin McTurk has finally been released and it looks fantastic.
I first mentioned this film on the blog when Kevin was running a Kickstarter campaign for it in 2013, and I’ve been waiting to see it ever since I saw some of Kevin’s early conceptual work for it at Dragon Con two years ago. The trailer is quite short – it’s really more of a teaser – but it showcases what looks to be some wonderfully realistic and subtle puppetry, brought to life by a stellar team made up of some of the best puppeteers from in and around Los Angeles.
Can’t wait to see it? Tide yourself over with Kevin’s previous short, The Narrative of Victor Karloch, which is available on Vimeo:
There’s no word on a release date for The Mill at Calder’s End yet, but I expect it will start turning up at film festivals internationally very soon!
