The endless, sometimes slightly silly cultural debate over whether or not Ernie and Bert are gay resumed this week. The press attention was so intense that, once again, producers at Sesame Workshop put out a press release reiterating their oft-stated position that “puppets do not have a sexual orientation”.
If you’re a big enough fan of Bert and Ernie to have strong feelings about their sexuality (or apparent lack thereof) then you’ll likely enjoy the latest Sesame Street web parody. It provides an origin of sorts for everyone’s favourite best friends and roommates…not that there would be anything wrong with them being more than that!
