The coronavirus pandemic and accompanying lockdowns have forced many artists, including puppeteers, who usually perform live to quickly pivot to producing online content. For some this has meant streaming videos of old performances until live shows can resume. Others have begun performing live shows on streaming platforms like Facebook, Twitch and Zoom, and still others are exploring new possibilities like offering online workshops, creating podcasts and launching or expanding their YouTube Channel.
In normal times California’s Sonoma County Safety PALS, works with community stakeholders like first responders, businesses, and schools to create educational performances about safety issues for children. They’ve responded to the rapidly worsening COVID-19 pandemic in California by producing this entertaining public service announcement in collaboration with Images In Motion.
Please remember that although lockdown restrictions are slowly being lifted in many areas, this crisis is far from over. Although things are slowly improving here in Canada and elsewhere, other countries like the United States have seen record levels of new cases in recent days and the situation in parts of Latin America is disastrous. Stay safe, stay home as much as you can, wash your hands, wear a mask and follow the advice of medical professionals, not politicians, or your amateur virologist friends on Facebook.
