Shotaro Kitada is a Tokyo-based artist who uses paper, strings and motors to create whimsical 3D scenes and figures. Although his work is often mistaken for stop motion animation, he always likes to clarify that it is, in fact, live action puppetry.
Shotaro’s video, Moving is Tiring, was the centrepiece of his first ever solo show at the Tokyo’s Salt and Pepper gallery last year. Inspired by his own move to his new home, it features music by the Nagoya-base electronica band Lullatone and is also the title of his first book.
You can see more of Shotaro’s work on Instragram and in his online portfolio.
