Fifty years ago, on this day in 1955 WRC-TV in Washington D.C. debuted Sam and Friends a twice-daily five minute show featuring a bunch of wacky puppets. It was produced by some guy named Jim Henson and a little outfit he had called Muppets. I understand they ended up doing OK for themselves.
