Here’s a neat video of Gorillaz, the world’s most popular “virtual band” performing at the MTV Music Awards in Europe (hosted by the always-hilarious Sacha Cohen). The 3D animated Gorillaz seemingly appear live on stage thanks to an updated version of the old Pepper’s Ghost Victorian stage illusion.
This is animation, but imagine how this could be taken to the next level using a digital puppetry system? Not only could the Gorillaz appear on stage, but they could interact with the audience live, in a real time manner that’s similar to Disney World’s Turtle Talk With Crush attraction (see previous post).
How cool would that be?
