Today myself and over five hundred other puppeteers, puppet builders and other artists descend on the campus of Swarthmore College in Swarthmore (just west of Philadelphia), Pennsylvania for Puppet Festival (r)Evolution, the 2013 Puppeteers of America National Puppetry Festival.
It’s going to be an intense, crazy and incredibly fun six days of puppet theatre, puppetry workshops, talks by prominent puppeteers and much, much more. If you’re here at the festival this week, please come find me and say hello!
What’s especially nice about this year’s festival is that it’s been opened up to the general public, so even if you’re not officially registered you can still participate. If you live in or near Philadelphia you can buy tickets for individual workshops and performances on the festival web site, although act fast because many popular events are already sold out.
While I’m checking in, trying to find a Wifi signal on campus and catching up with some old friends, check out Festival Director Robert Smythe’s interview with me on the Puppet Festival (r)Evolution Blog.
I’ll hopefully be back with more soon!
